Vitamin C serums are one of those skincare products that always sound promising. Bright skin, healthy glow, fading marks, antioxidant benefits, on paper they seem like an easy addition to any routine. But Vitamin C also happens to be one of the trickiest ingredients because formulation and packaging matter for it to be a hit or miss. So when I started using the Foxtale Vitamin C Serum, I was curious to see how it would hold up with regular use.
Price : Rs.645

The packaging comes in a plastic pump-style container with weird protective plug. After every use, the plug needs to be placed back carefully because Vitamin C formulas can be sensitive to air exposure. The serum is in lotion like consistency and It has a slightly unusual chemical like fragrance which lingers around for a few minutes.
Foxtale Vitamin C Serum was in peach color first but it started to turn brown within a couple of weeks showing signs of oxidation. If you are wondering why this happened: Vitamin C, especially forms like L-Ascorbic Acid, is naturally unstable and reacts with exposure to air, light, and heat. Over time oxidation can turn the serum from a lighter shade to yellow, orange, or darker tones. Once oxidation starts, the effectiveness can reduce and the formula may not perform the same way.

Personally, seeing the color change within a couple of weeks was disappointing because when you’re investing in a Vitamin C product, you want to be confidence that the formula stays stable. I think it is high time foxtale change the packing or formulation to avoid oxidation. I have tried couple of products from foxtale before and it has not disappointed me but this one has.
If I had to choose a vitamin C, I would personally pick the Minimalist Vitamin C serum over this one, as it has more stable formula and brightens up the skin. Skincare products are supposed to reduce stress, not make you stare at the bottle every morning wondering: “Wait… was this color lighter yesterday?” 😭 I will not repurchase it.
