It is always said no matter where or how far you go, stick to your routes. With the beginning of the new year, I would like to share some traditional dresses ideas with you, which will not only make your shopping an easy experience but also make you look elegant without any much hassle. There are so many types of traditional dresses that are trending and all look so ravishing which would leave you wondering which one to wear. So today, let’s discuss one such form which has been in highlight for quite a sometime now, which is Half Sarees.
History of Half Saree
Half saree which is also known as “Langa Voni” or “Pavadai Davani” is mostly worn by women and girls in South India. This is a three-piece clothing item which comprises of a long skirt, blouse and dupatta. This is very similar to the lehenga choli, the only difference is in the draping style of the dupatta and the material. So, let’s have a look at some of the traditional and stylish half sarees/ pavadai davani for special occasions and tips on how to style them –
- Orange and Green heavy and stylish half saree – This is perfect for some major occasion or maybe your own engagement. Kanchipuram silk skirt and the heavy border of the dupatta makes the outfit beautiful. Here you need to keep your neck area minimal by opting for a long heavy necklace else the neck area will look cluttered by a heavy border. Keep the hairstyle and makeup minimal. Also, in makeup opt for matte neutral makeup because the outfit already has too many colours.
2. Lemon Yellow and Grey Pavadai Davani – This is such a simple and day time look. Here because of the boat neck, you can completely eliminate the necklace. Instead, go for a big flowered bun and then big jhumkis to keep the entire look simple and classy. Just pair some simple bangles and you will be good to go. For makeup, keep the overall look simple just add a pop of colour on lips because it is day time.
3. Bright Orange and Blue traditional Half Sarees – This is the traditional half saree which looks great in multiple ways. The checkered pattern silk skirt is quite beautiful and it looks perfectly traditional. A beautiful flower bun or the typical long ornamental braid will go quite well with this Langa Voni. Keep the makeup minimal with only a bright coloured lipstick.
4. Pink, Purple and Golden Heavy Banarasi Half saree – This is a perfect half saree which your sister can wear for your special day. This is very cute and at the same time has a modern touch to it. The golden dupatta balances the overall look and the simple braided makeup steals the show here. Temple jewellery is going quite well with the overall look and makeup here.
5. Heavy Purple Banarasi half saree – Purple is one such colour which we all tend to ignore. Purple looks great on our Indian skin tone and this heavy border banarasi work goes quite well on young girls for their special days. In order to balance the overall look keep the dupatta simple and minimal. Go with a simple but long hairstyle and then balance the overall makeup with matte and nude makeup.
6. Navy Blue and Pink Golden Heavy Border Pavadai Davani – This is such a stylish and traditional half saree. The half saree looks great and is very modern as it is paired with dupatta with embroidery design. The colours are bright and thus perfect for both day and night time look. A small black bindi and the beautiful temple jewellery goes beautifully with the look. You can keep your hair loose or tie a messy braid so that it goes quite well with your overall look.
7. Heavy Pink Self Patterned Half Saree – This is such a beautiful and traditional half saree look and my personal favourite too. The embroidery looks beautiful and with this bright colour. This is for anyone who loves the overall pink look. Diamond jewellery goes quite well with this look. You can keep the hairstyle simple as the overall look is quite glam.
8. Red and Golden Heavily Embroided Half saree – This beautifully embroidered half saree has the elegant and modern look. Gold dupatta adds a royal touch to the outfit. Golden jewellery goes quite well with such half sarees. You can keep your hair simple in a rounded bun look.
9. Pink and Lime Green Half Saree – Another quirky colour for Pavadai Davani, this colour combination is in trend for quite some time. This is a very simple and elegant colour will be a perfect choice for Haldi and Sangeet functions. The half saree look is perfect for young girls and the heavy temple gold jewellery goes quite well with this look.
10. Shades of Blue Pavadai Davani – This is for all the blue lovers. Such a stunning and beautiful half saree which goes with all our Indian skin tone. Diamond jewellery goes quite well with this half saree look. Keep the hairstyle simple with a braided look and you will be good to go. You can also add fancy dori designs to the blouse for an extra oomph factor.
11. Pink and navy blue heavy blouse with printed lehenga– Such a stunning yet simple heavy half saree look. This looks great on anyone with dusky skin tone. Golden temple jewellery will go quite beautifully with this look. And keep the hairstyle simple and minimal here. Check out 40 HALF SAREE DESIGNS THAT ARE IN TREND THIS YEAR
