The Telugu Industry is one industry that has become very popular for its unmatchable movies and the kind of efforts and value that goes into it. With new talented directors stepping into the industry, the approach Tollywood had towards the romance genre has changed rapidly in the recent past. Though the latest generation is able to connect themselves with these new age romantic movies more, there are some like us who keeps revisiting the old ones. Not because the old ones are better or something. It is mostly because we are nostalgic for the time we first watched it. This loves towards the classic has always been there. My dad has it for the movies that came out during his time and its something that is going to happen to the millennials as well. So there are some who like to watch latest Telugu movies online, and then there are those who like to revisit the classics. Hence, this got us thinking. Bommarillu (2006)
This is the oldest one in the list. The movie is about Siddu (Siddharth) whose caring father plans to get him married to a rich girl. But destiny has a different plan, and he falls in love with Hasini (Genelia D’souza. Apart from the romantic elements, Bommarillu’s take on a father-son relationship made the movie a super hit among the audience. Though the movie featured some good cast, it was Genelia D’souza who stole the show with her portrayal of possibly one of cutest characters Tollywood has ever seen. Ala Modalaindi (2011)
There is a saying that goes that ‘You will meet THE one eventually’ and this movie is based on that very line, except here, every time the two meets they end up breaking the each other’s current relationship. This movie’s take on ‘meant for each other’ is something that made the audience come back to it again and again. Also, you should watch this movie to witness the electrifying chemistry between Nithya Menen and Nani.
Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada (2016)
No one must have thought that a supernatural-romantic thriller Telugu movie would become a classic in the romantic genre. But it can be true in future. The director Vi Anand did an amazing job capturing the very essence of love, with a story, unlike anything that Tollywood has ever seen before. All the leads Nikhil Siddharth, Hebah Patel, Nandita Swetha and Avika Gor, did proper justice to their character. Though this movie forms a genre of its own, it would not be wrong for us to include the movie on this list.
Hello (2017)
The movie starring Akhil Akkineni and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead shows us that if it comes down to finding his love, a person will go to any extent. A man, who after a lot of struggle, finally get his childhood love’s number, only to get his phone stolen by a gangster. As crazy as the narrative of the movie sounds, it is way more intriguing to see the movie. The movie is perfect for watching with your better half.
Geetha Govindam (2018)
This is the most recent movies that made to the list and for all the right reason. Starring one of the current heartthrobs of South India – Vijay Devarakonda, the movie has set the bars high for future romantic movies. The story revolves around Vijay Govind (Vijay Devarakonda) who falls in love with Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna). But in their very first meeting, she misunderstands him and forms a wrong opinion about him. Vijay, despite all odds, tries to woo her. The movie is different from any the other romantic movies, as it takes on a tricky scenario and uses the conflict to flesh out its central characters.
