Half saree is known as Pattu pavadai dhavani in Tamil, Langa voni in Telugu and Langa davani in Kannada. Half saree is a traditional wear of South India. Normal saree is around 6 meters in length but the half saree is around 2.5 meters in length and worn over skirt and blouse. Half saree is usually worn in South India by teens for festival and special occasions. Half saree has also evolved along with the fashion industry. During my teen years half saree were simple and kinda boring but now it has undergone a fashion revamp.
Half saree blouses have under gone a face lift by adding on embellishments and embroidery work to it. The dori is also added to the blouse to spice it up more. Usually half sarees come with pleated skirts but nowadays we are able to see it in various style like A line, Peacock cut, Mermaid cut and Straight cut. You can select the blouse and skirt according to your body shape to enhance the look.

Usually half saree is made with silk which is quite famous in South India. For regular use half saree is made with cotton skirt and synthetic material. Usually contrast colors are paired up together to get a traditional look. Even dupatta that is around 2.5 meters can be used create this pavadai dhavani look.
