Hong Kong is a vibrant place for tourism, Here is a list of “9 Must visit places in Hong Kong ” based on my personal experience. Another good thing is Indians can travel to Hong Kong visa free.
1. Hong Kong Skyline Laser Show:
Hong Kong skyline is one of the most iconic skyline in the world. The daily night laser show starts at 8 PM and it s definitely worth a look and it is FREE! We visited Hongkong during the National Day so we did get an opportunity to enjoy the stunning fireworks which started around 9PM and lasted for 20 minutes. Skyline laser show can also be viewed from the roof top restaurants surrounding Victoria harbour.
2. Victoria Peak:
The tram ride to the peak was amazing, but it is quite crowded during weekends and public holidays. The view from the peak is breath taking esp during the sun set, viewing platform is often filled with people. Don’t forget that you are 400 meters above sea level, so the climate is relatively cooler here – better to have your jackets handy with you while visiting this place.
3. Big Buddha:
It is very accessible bt MTR. You need to take MTR to Tung Chung station ( Lantau Island ) and from there you can reach Big Buddha by cable car or bus. It was raining on the day we visited Big Buddha, so we din get an opportunity to travel by cable car, yet the ride which we took by bus to Big Buddha was scenic and beautiful. This is my most favorite place during our Hong Kong visit.
You have to walk 268 steps to reach the Buddha and once you reach the base of the Buddha you will be amazed of how big the statue is, after all it is the ” Largest outdoor bronze Buddha Statue ” in the world. There is NO entrance fee to visit Big Buddha.
4. Disney Land:
We got a 2 day pass to Disneyland, If you are travelling with kids it is must visit place. Disneyland is filled with surprises and non stop entertainment to keep you and your kids smiling all day long. 3D mickey show, Pooh ride and Mystic Manor were some amazing attractions. Kids below 5 years are allowed in most of the rides except for a few ( 4 rides)
Don’t forget to gather around Main street to get a stunning view of the Paint the night Parade (7PM) and Fireworks( 8PM)
5. Avenue of Stars:
This is the place to take a soothing walk and to take photos with the your favourite star’s statue and imprints of them with Hong kong sykline as a background. You also get a beautiful view of the harbour from here, Entry is free.
6.Hong Kong Park:
Parks are another set attractions in Hong Kong which you can enjoy for FREE. I visited Hong Kong and Shatin Park. Both the parks are well laid out and have beautiful fountains and large ponds. Hong Kong park has beautiful aviary to watch birds flying around.
Shatin park is where you will see choreographed Tai Chi session and Lantern display of mid-autumn festival.
7. Temple Street Night Market:
Temple street comes to life when the sun goes down. This market is filled with cheap goods, souvenirs, key chains, electronic items and toys. The restaurants there served good food but they were quite expensive when compared to other areas and most of the shops are shut down by 11PM
8. Ladies Market:
Ladies market has clothes, footwear, handbags, cell phone accessories and more. It has more than 100 stalls. Bargaining is a must here, you will find better deals in the stalls which are at the end of the market. This market also offers some of the yummy street food. 9. Snoopy World:
If you are staying in Sha Tin, Snoopy world is a must visit when you are travelling with Kids esp Snoopy fans. It is an out door play area with lots of Peanut characters, well decorated and it’s FREE. It is located in New town plaza. Snoopy world is quite small but you can spend around 30 – 40 minutes here. New town plaza has many top end brand outlets and lots of restaurants.
